A lista não é oficial, mas não deve ser muito
diferente. O jornal inglês “Telegraph” teve acesso a um documento com as
86 músicas escolhidas para a cerimônia de abertura dos Jogos de
Londres, que terá o diretor Danny Boyle, de “Trainspotting” e “Quero ser
um milionário”, no comando. A maior surpresa é a inclusão de “God Save
the Queen”, um manifesto do grupo Sex Pistols contra a monarquia
inglesa. A Rainha Elizabeth é presença quase certa no Estádio Olímpico
no dia 27 de julho.
De acordo com a lista, a cerimônia será dividida em quatro partes.
Ícones da música inglesa, como The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Pink
Floyd, The Clash, David Bowie e The Jam, terão suas músicas tocadas na
festa. Bandas da atualidade, como Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand e
Coldplay, também foram escaladas por Boyle.
A lista, porém, também tem ausências, como Elton John e canções da
carreira solo de Paul MaCartney. Astros da música pop, como Robbie
Williams e Spice Girls, também foram deixados de lado por Boyle. Embora a
organização não confirme os números, jornais britânicos afirmam que a
cerimônia tenha o custo de 27 milhões de libras (algo em torno de R$ 87
milhões).
